Bauertology: 1/12/24

It’s been a minute, huh?

A minute, or ten months, which is the last time I made an official post on this blog—that, of course, being my final NCAA Tournament projection for 2023.

Well, I think ten months absent is long enough.

The 2023-24 Division I college basketball season is already well underway with conference play picking up recently. And we’ve already got tons of juicy storylines to pick at—Will Gonzaga miss the tournament for the first time in over 20 years? Does UConn have what it takes to repeat? Can anyone catch Purdue in the race for the #1 overall seed? All this, and so much more.

I’ve missed this dearly, so after hours of slaving away to get it just right, here’s the first Bauertology bracket of 2024. If it looks a little messy, that’s probably because it is; I’m still getting back into the hang of this thing, and the straight-up uninspiring profiles of just about every team between the 9-seed line and Next Four Out didn’t make matters easy when it came to some hair-splitting decisions. Not to mention sorting out locations, and rematches, and competitive balance…

But, as always, I’m ready to defend my choices. Enjoy the first Bauertology of 2024, leave your comments and concerns, and look forward to an exciting couple months of college hoops ahead!
