The end of days is approaching.
Not the apocalypse, of course, but Selection Sunday, now just a week and a day away. Kind of hard to believe, isn’t it?
With the selection committee set to meet next week in order to start building its bracket, the group of teams that will be selected to play in the NCAA Tournament is going to start solidifying. Today is just about the last huge day of the college basketball regular season, so after today’s results are accounted for in the bracket, you won’t see too many changes in selection and seeding—mainly just some adjustments at the bubble or at the top line, as well as accounting for those automatic bids down below the at-large field (already one casualty with Morehead State falling in yesterday’s OVC semis).
All in all, I think the group of possible 1 seeds has shrunk to about five, maybe six, contenders, while the heart of the bubble has about 10-15 teams left to work out, and even those that are feeling safe right now need to beware of the potential bid stealers of the world who will reveal themselves over the next week.
After today, we’re actually in the homestretch, people. Get excited, because the madness is comin’ quick.
